Leading Bulgarian scientific and entrepreneurial entities presented their achievements

Representatives of the Bulgarian scientific and entrepreneurial community presented  their achievements at a meeting with members of the Brussels Press Corps.

Foreign media representatives were welcomed by little girls in Bulgarian folklore attire, who gave them a rosebud because Bulgaria is famous in the world for its rose oil production.  Lavender petals were arranged on the tables because the country was number one producer of lavender oil among the 28 EU Member States in 2016.

The Executive Director of Sofia Tech Park Mr. Todor Angelov, started the presentations for the media. He told them about the progress on the project for the first Tech Park in Bulgaria and the opportunities it presents for development of science and entrepreneurship in the country.

After his presentation, JA Bulgaria was presented by its CEO Milena Stoycheva, who is a Guest Professor on Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the European Institute of Innovation and Technology EIT.  

Mariyana Hanamova presented Cleantech Bulgaria – an organisation supporting the development of entrepreneurship community in the area of clean technology. 

The presentation of High Performance Computing Lab of Sofia Tech Park was delivered by its Head, Prof. Ana Proykova, Professor at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.    

Dr. Boris Kirov, Professor at the Technical University of Sofia and Dessislava Popova, captain of the Bulgarian team in synthetic biology, winner of silver medal from the international young scientists’ competition IGEM in Boston, USA presented the Bioinfotech Lab of Sofia tech Park.

The Cybersecurity Lab of Sofia Tech Park was presented by its Head – Dr. Georgi Sharkov, Manager of the European Software Institute – Centre Eastern Europe, who is the author of the National Cyber Security Strategy

The  Playground Energy start-up which develops innovative products at Sofia Tech Park’s Incubator was presented by the Managing Director of the company Hristo Alexiev.

There was also a presentation of the Automotive Cluster Bulgaria on the development of the sector, analysed by Liubomir Stanislavov, Director of the organisation and Member of the Board.

The NEVEQ Venture Capital Fund supporting Bulgarian start-ups and innovative projects was presented by Zlatolina Mukova, Partner in the Fund.

The Dronamics company, which is number 1 in the world in making airborne cargo drones and has received an award by EC Vice-President  Andrus Ansip as one of the top 10 innovative companies from Europe in  2017 was presented by Svilen  Rangelov, one of the founders of the project.

Foreign media representatives learned about Galen-N too, a company producing etheric oils and natural extracts, which has a significant contribution to the exceptionally dynamic development of the etheric-oil sector of Bulgaria.  The presentation was delivered by the Sales Director Momchil Mihov.
