More than 40,000 People in Sofia are Working in the IT Sector

In Sofia, as a digital city, more than 40,000 people are working in the IT sector, which is why we need cybersecurity, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova said at a conference on cybersecurity in the EU, Focus News Agency reports. Digital transformation has made digital skills a must in nearly all jobs, but along with digital skills there should also be efforts to overcome certain risks, she said. “The serious problem ahead of us is not to overlook the risks we increasingly talk about while trying to teach more people to deal with the challenges of the digital age,” Fandakova stressed.
"In Sofia, as a digital city, more than 40,000 people are working in the IT sector. It is a city that supports and develops innovation, so it cannot be a bystander. We are interested in others’ experience and the opinion of our experts and we are open to receiving cybersecurity expertise across sectors,” she said.
