Bulgaria registered 0.1% deflation in June

The index of consumer prices (CPI) in June was respectively 99.9%, compared to May of the same year, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) has said.

Inflation rate in June 2016 was -1.1% if compared to December 2015 and -1.3% if compared to June 2015, according to the figures.

The annual average inflation, measures by CPI, was also negative (-0.8%) for July 2015-June 2016 if compaerd to the same period of the previous year.

In June of this year, prices decreased for food and non-alcoholic beverages (by 1.1%) and for clothing and footwear (by 0.6%).

A number of consumer groups saw a mild increase such as alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.1%); housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (0.1%); furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house (0.2%); recreation and culture (0.2%); and miscellaneous goods and services (0.2%).

A slightly bigger increase was observed in restaurants and hotels (0.8%) and transport (1.7%).

Prices in communications, health and education remained unchanged.
