Bulgaria Govt Approves CETA Trade Deal

The Bulgarian cabinet has adopted a decision approving the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).

It has also given the green light to the EU-Canada Strategic Partnership Agreement.

In a statement, the government says Bulgaria's permanent envoy to the EU has been authorized to sign both documents, under the condition of forthcoming ratification and of the commitment officially taken by Canada to revoke visa restrictions for Bulgarian nationals traveling to the North American country for work or leisure purposes.

The decision comes at a time CETA faces a challenge from the Belgian region of Wallonia, which opposes the agreement.
