"We need to encourage domestic producers to sell their quality products," announced the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Rumen Porodzanov, who launched the “Grown with Care in Bulgaria” initiative for direct access of the Bulgarian fruit, vegetable and meat producers to the trade chains. He added that the growing of the production is supported to the final stage of its packing. "There is a regular payment that provides producers with peace and encourages them to sell their goods. It is good that the project is expanding as well as the interest among customers is extremely high. The Ministry will continue to promote and support such ideas," the Minister added.
Minister Porodzanov commented that the initiative was a result of a strenuous and purposeful work of employees from Metro, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, as well as representatives of the scientific community.
The aim of the initiative is to present a platform between local small producers and consumers. The assortment includes about 150 products with unique flavor qualities produced by small farmers. The production is directly delivered to the chain stores, with over 100 contracts signed with farmers.
