For the first time our country has a positive trade balance. Bulgaria's foreign trade balance with the countries of the European Union is positive in July, which is the first time since we are a member state. In the seventh month of 2017 our country sold to the EU goods amounting to BGN 4.605 billion, and bought goods for BGN 133 million less.

The news is good, as the trade surplus means that more Bulgarian currency has come into the Bulgarian economy. Additionally, the positive trade balance is added to Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

However, it is too early to argue that the results in July is a signal for the beginning of a long-term trend. Data for the seven months of 2017 show that the "gap" between export and import to the EU is still high - BGN 1.6 billion. Total exports to the Community for this period are estimated at BGN 19.5 billion, while imports BGN 21.06 billion.
