Bulgaria will receive EUR 6 million support for the crisis in the dairy sector. This became clear during the informal meeting of the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council in Luxembourg. The total fund package allocated between Member States amounted to EUR 420 million. ,, It's very important that the funds are not taken from the budget for crises, but are an additional resource that should support farmers immediately. We appreciate that some of the proposals which we made in December last year, when we put the question with the crisis in the dairy sector up for discussion, have been included in the package, "announced the Minister of Agriculture and Food Desislava Taneva during the meeting of the Council.
She suggested the measures for which all the checks have passed, such as coupled support for the livestock breeding sector, 100% of the funds to be paid in advance immediately after October 16, and not after December 1.
Regarding the market measures proposed by the Commission for the improvement of the dairy sector, Desislava Taneva explained that until the adoption of a legislative proposal under the School Fruit Scheme, the rates of milk equivalent should be to increased to the amount that covers at least 80% of all costs for the supply of milk and dairy products under the scheme. "Under these conditions, the scheme would have great success both socially, as it will teach the younger generation healthy eating habits, as well as for the producers," Minister Taneva pointed out.
