SOFIA (Bulgaria), July 11 (SeeNews) - Total revenue from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria rose by 27.2% year-on-year to 78.3 million levs ($46.9 million/40.0 million euro) in May, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
Revenues from overnights spent by foreign nationals increased by an annual 37.6% in May, while revenues from Bulgarian tourists grew by 7.0%, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
The number of tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria in May rose 20.0% on the year to 1.57 million.
The largest increase in the number of overnights, by 26.4%, was registered by four- and five-star hotels which serviced 80% of the total number of overnights of international visitors and 35.3% of the overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists.
A total of 582,000 tourists stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria in May, up 28.7% year-on-year. The number of Bulgarian tourists increased 4.6% on the year, while the number of foreign visitors grew 28.7%.
