There is a decrease between 30 and 40% of early holiday bookings for this year in Bulgaria by young people up to 25 years old, Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova said on Nova TV today. Asked whether this is the result of the actions of former Deputy Prime Minister Valeri Simeonov against the noise of the sea last summer, she explained that she can not say what the reason is, but such are the facts.
"Every scandal has an affect," Angelkova said. Last year, she and Simeonov have been on a number of occasions in media disputes, with accusations of lobbying.
The minister pointed out that there is a decrease of early registrations of tourists from Russia as well, which is between 10 and 15%. But the ministry had set out measures to focus attention on Bulgaria.
Commenting on the construction scandals this winter, Angelkova said it was unpleasant, but almost nothing could be done because it was about welded objects that received a green light before 2008 when the Black Sea Coast Act was adopted.
The most serious response was the construction of Arapia campsite and the Alepu site, which were temporarily suspended following a check by the National Construction Control Directorate.
It was also a matter of construction in private properties, and when the law was observed, there was no way to stop the construction. Angelkova promised more detailed information by receiving the data required by the municipalities for the issued building permits in zones A and B under the law.
