According to preliminary estimates, Bulgarians spent more than BGN 6 M per hour in the last four days before Christmas.

The expectations are that Bulgarians will spend at least as much of their family budget on shopping and celebrations as they did in 2014.

Meanwhile, nearly 90 % of Bulgarians will welcome 2016 at home without travelling, private NOVA TV informs.

According to forecasts, 750 000 Bulgarians will celebrate New Year’s Eve in local resorts, while 240 000 will travel abroad.

The average cost of celebrations in Bulgarian resorts will be around BGN 350, while the holiday abroad will amount to BGN 780.

Estimates suggest that Bulgarians will spend BGN 450 M on travel and celebrations alone.
