The number of Israeli tourists visiting Bulgaria increased by 30% last year,exceeding 200,000, the Israeli Ambassador to Sofia H.E. Irit Lillian has said.
The increase had placed Israel in the fifth position in terms of the number of foreign visitors to Bulgaria, public radio broadcaster BNR quoted Ms Irit Lillian as saying during a visit to the city of Veliko Tarnovo on Thursday.
Israeli investment into Bulgaria made directly or through international companies totalled at least EUR 1 B in 2015, she added.
Israeli investments in Bulgaria have been focused predominantly on real estate and tourism sectors, with production of plastics, foods and textiles also drawing investor interest.
