The unemployment in the 28 member states of the European Union reached its lowest levels in seven years falling down to 8.7%. In the same time the unemployment in Bulgaria recorded a decrease to 7.1% reaching its lowest level since September 2009, according to the latest data from Eurostat.
The level of unemployment in the EU in April fell down to 8.7% from 8.8% in March below the level of 9.6% a year earlier (April 2015). In this way the European unemployment reached its lowest level since April 2009, according to data from Eurostat.
According to Eurostat, the unemployment in Bulgaria in April decreased to 7.1% from 7.3% in March and is much below the level of 10% a year earlier (April 2015). In this way the unemployment in our country reached its lowest level since August 2009.
The sharp reduction of the Bulgarian unemployment on an annual basis (to 7.1% in April 2016 from 10% in April 2015) places Bulgaria in the prestigious second place in comparison with the other member states with only Cyprus experiencing a sharper decrease in unemployment for the last 12 months (reduction to 11.6% from 15.7%).
